Lucca Comics & Games, what to eat?
Five days of comics, video games and breaks to refresh yourself before diving back into the crazy crowd at Lucca Comics & Games. This year there are also appointments with great chefs overwhelmed by the fantastic atmosphere.

for an "editorial and material" project that explores and expands the connections between the universe of comics and that of food and wine.
In Foodmetti the excellences of these two worlds meet, with special attention paid to the choice of products and artists, each time called upon to represent an idea of taste and sharing. Central to the project is the quality of the sign, as well as respect for a supply chain that is able to valorise even little-known but highly valuable realities. Two topics therefore, design and food, which come together in the art of the table, an original media spectacle that mixes superhero images and flavours.
And this year Foodmetti makes its debut at Lucca Comics & Games, in the marvellous rooms of the Atelier Ricci, transformed for the occasion into a sort of speakeasy, where it will be possible to learn about and purchase the products linked to the project and to attend numerous panels involving personalities from the world of food and comics, such as the exponents of the ninth art Mirka Andolfo, Giuseppe Camuncoli, C. B. Cebulski, Lorenzo De Felici, Sualzo, and those of food and wine excellence Cristiano Tomei, Carlo Spinelli, Teo Musso, Marco Macelloni, Tommaso Blandi and many others.
After closing time at the Ricci atelier, Foodmetti will continue in the Accanto cocktail bar with Foodmetti Off, where every evening the authors will take turns at the counter, serving signature Foodmetti cocktails and chatting with patrons.
In the Foodmetti space it will be possible to buy, among others, Mio nonno mi portava a fà gli erbi. Una vita di ricette e ricerca in cucina, the autobiographical book by the histrionic chef Cristiano Tomei published by Rizzoli and Cucinare con Corto Maltese, the book published by Cong with recipes inspired by the stories of Hugo Pratt's hero, with a preface by Massimo Bottura.

Damiano Cararra, too, could not resist the call of Lucca Comics & Games.
220 kilos, a week of work and three different types of chocolate - white, milk and melting - combined to create a female figure supported by a tree. This is Hope by Ted Nasmith, the inspiration for the 2022 edition. This extraordinary work will be exhibited in the splendid rooms of Palazzo Ducale next to the original poster of the event, in the festival exhibition area from 28 October to 1 November.
Damiano Carrara and Atelier Damiano Carrara will take part in this edition of Lucca Comics &Games with a stand located at the entrance of Palazzo Ducale, which will offer an ad hoc selection of sweets that can be purchased gluten-free and lactose-free: two single-portions (a Sacher and a Tiramisu), pralines dedicated to the event, and other products, including chocolate bars, spreadable creams, and dragees.
Damiano Carrara is one of Italy's most popular pastry chefs and the face of highly successful television programmes for Warner Bros. Discovery group in Italy: he is currently on air with Bake Off Italia - Dolci in forno, the talent show dedicated to amateur pastry chefs that this year celebrates its tenth edition, broadcast in prime time every Friday on Real Time. Other programmes that see and have seen Damiano Carrara as a protagonist are: Cake Star, Tarabaralla and Fuori Menù. He is also the author of several books. In Italy, the last two published, both published by Cairo Editore are Un po' più dolce (2020) and Ancora più dolce (2021).
Gastronomy and cinema: two worlds capable of offering unique and indescribable sensory experiences.
On 29 October at 5 p.m. in the Japan area of Lucca Comics and Games, Silvia Casini, Raffaella Fenoglio and Francesco Pasqua will explain to the audience present the philosophy of the master Hayao Miyazaki, whose stories have succeeded in enchanting children and adults alike, with the inclusion of mouth-watering culinary scenes.
Reviewing the feature films and culinary sequences in The Enchanted Kitchen, the most preponderant aspects of the great director's art will be highlighted. So get ready to have your mouth water with the sizzling bacon from The Wandering Castle of Howl, the Siberia cake from Si alza il vento and many, many delicacies. To enrich the event, the dreamlike shots of professional photographer Francesco Luongo and the giveaway of some gadgets for all lovers of the brilliant filmmaker.
And finally 9 refreshment points and 30 gourmet food trucks
in which attention to quality and typicality, to zero-km products but also the revisitation of the best international specialities will be at the centre of the proposal available to visitors in 9 Street food national league points (official Lucca Comics & Games refreshment points) located around the city festival circuit.
Quality and sustainability. From 2018 Lucca Comics & Games is a Zero Waste event, an important turning point thanks to the recognition of Zero Waste Italy directed by Rossano Ercolini, winner of the 2013 Goldman Environmental Prize, a prestigious international environmental award and author of the books: Non bruciamo il futuro (2014), Rifiuti zero (2018) and Il bivio: manifesto per la rivoluzione ecologica (2020).
Therefore, the collection of ecofriendly glasses produced by Ristocup (reusable, printable and designed to replace disposable ones), a brand created in 2018 by Ristogest, is back. For the 2022 edition of Lucca Comics & Games, they have been created taking inspiration from the poster created by Ted Nasmith, an artist also present at the festival with an exhibition at Palazzo Ducale. In addition, all crockery, plates, cutlery and packaging used in the festival's internal refreshment areas will be plastic free.
